Early Childhood Program - Sharing Program

Montessori Children’s House highly encourages families to participate in weekly “Sharing” of objects from home. The purpose of sharing is to bridge home and school in an authentic, meaningful way that connects children and their parents to the classroom curriculum and culture. Sharing objects are based on the Sound of the Week (each class has a different alphabet sound each week) and parents are encouraged to brainstorm Sound of the Week object ideas with their child by emphasizing sound of the letter. Parents are asked to comply with the specific classroom guidelines outlined below to insure smooth management of the sharing systems.

Sharing Guidelines

  • Sharing is sent to school in an MCH sharing bag with your child’s name
  • The sharing object size is limited by the size of the sharing bag
  • NO TOYS or perishables (live animals by arrangement only)
  • Sharing bags may shrink – wash in cold water and air dry
  • Sharing bags are for sharing use only – please do not send other items in the bag as this will avoid confusion and extra wear on the bag
  • Sharing is optional – please participate only if your child is interested and engaged in finding the sharing item independently or with your assistance
  • Sharing objects must be appropriate for a children’s group – please check the suggested categories of objects or ask your teacher if you’re not sure about the appropriateness of an object.

Thank you for your participation in our Sharing Program!
Please let your Lead Teacher know if you have a special skill or interest that you are interested in bringing to the children’s community.

Any questions? Please contact your Lead Teacher to further clarify.
