Hello Everyone!

December came and went in a flash! We were all so excited to begin our winter break and before we knew it we were back at it again this week. Everyone came back feeling refreshed and ready to work. We welcomed two new members to El Salon Amarillo- Quinn and Sage. They have spent this week getting to know their new friends and catching up with old ones (Sage transitioned to our classroom from El Salon Celeste and was reunited with his good friend Mason!).

Although we are all very happy to be back in school, some of the children found themselves missing their family. The other day, I noticed that some of the kiddos took it upon themselves to grab their family pictures during lunch time and they placed it in front of them as they ate. Not only was this such a sweet moment, but it showed me that they were able to think of an appropriate way to cope with their emotions. They never cease to amaze me!

This week the children have been getting back to their routine (or learning their new routine) so it was no surprise that most of them gravitated to practical life and art. They love these areas of our classroom, they have so much fun exploring all the works available in these sections. Next week we will begin to focus on our brand new unit on the continents. The children will begin to get an overview of each continent and our main focus will be the culture that each continent has to offer; we will also briefly explore the flora and fauna found in each continent.
