Community Engagement

MCH's Community Engagement Program shows students that helping others is not a once a year event. Our on-going partnership with local, non-profit resources is strategic and intentional. MCH students gain Emotional Intelligence, cross generations learning and world awareness.

HOPELINK

HOPELINK is a nonprofit organization working to end poverty in our community. Each year they help more than 64,000 people through programs that provide stability and the skills and knowledge needed to exit poverty.

Every year, MCH has a Basic Needs Drive to gather household and personal care items. From daily hygiene products (such as shampoo, soap and deodorant) to baby care products, MCH students coordinate the entire Drive process. From promoting the event, to sorting the items, to delivering the products to the HOPELINK facility, students gain skills for life as well as build a community of caring.

AEGIS

As one of the largest assisted living facilities in Washington, California and Nevada, Aegis provides active living for seniors. MCH began its partnership with Aegis in 2016 with tremendous success.

Twice a month MCH students are involved with the seniors: Our elementary students visit the care facility where they do activities (such as crafts and gardening) with the residents. In return, the residents visit our MCH Early Childhood Program to be an active part of the classroom where they assist teachers with lessons, read to students and visit our many on-site farm animals.
"I just like hanging out with older people. We like the same things - bowling, planting, painting. It's kind of being with a mirror of myself. I just really like it."
- Lou, 6th grade student at MCH

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY

A lifelong goal of MCH Founder, Linda Cole-Weaver, MCH took over the stretch of Highway 202 in 2015. Parents from our active school community volunteer their time and hard work to keep this generous section of road clean.

Going right by the Montessori Children's House location, 202 is one of the most traveled roads in Redmond, connecting it to Fall City, Snoqualmie and beyond.
