Hana Toko
(she/her)
Early Childhood and Elementary Education Director
Hana’s educational Journey began 25 years ago when she started out as an assistant teacher. After 5 years, she knew she wanted to become a certified lead and completed her Montessori training for the early childhood age group of 3-6 year olds. After her internship, she landed at MCH in 2007 where she was a lead teacher in the Amarillo Classroom (now Pacific Willow) for 3 years before she went on maternity leave. After being home with her daughter for a few years, Hana returned to work and school, receiving her Bachelors Degree in Educational Studies, completing her Montessori Training for both upper and lower elementary (students aged 6-12), and earning her Masters in Teaching in Elementary Education. She taught at the elementary level for 10 years until she decided to pursue her discovered passion in student support. “The training I received as a teacher and as a mother benefited me in working with students who face diverse needs…everything I’ve learned by being in the right place at the right time led me to seek out a student support position.” Hana has come full circle, landing back at MCH in the Student Support Program and as the Early Childhood Program Director. She loves sharing her passions for nature and the environment with her colleagues, students, and family. Hana enjoys spending time outdoors camping and hiking to admire the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, she creates fiber arts by working with raw fibers from animals and turning them into beautiful pieces of art.
