Our Philosophy of Inclusivity & Student Support

At Montessori Children’s House, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child is unique, capable, and deserving of respect. Our mission is to guide children in developing self-discipline, independence, and a strong sense of belonging, while honoring the individuality of their background, culture, abilities, and learning style.

Families as Partners

We recognize parents as a child’s first teachers and essential partners in their growth. Families bring invaluable knowledge of their child’s strengths, needs, and traditions. By sharing this knowledge with us, together we create an environment where each child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Regular communication, including goal-setting conferences, progress reports, and ongoing dialogue, ensures that we walk alongside families in supporting every child’s journey.

Support for Every Child

Some children may need additional support as they learn and grow. When challenges arise, our teachers, Student Support Director, and families work together to understand the whole child—considering their environment, strengths, and needs. If needed, we develop an individualized Child Guidance Support Plan that includes tailored strategies, progress monitoring, and, when appropriate, collaboration with outside specialists.

Admissions with Care

Our admissions process is grounded in a philosophy of inclusivity and to creating environments where every child and family we welcome can thrive. We approach this process with openness and transparency, asking families to share fully about their child so we can deeply understand their needs. Being a truly inclusive school means recognizing both our strengths and our limits, and making thoughtful decisions that honor the children we already serve while ensuring sustainability for all. This care in the admissions process allows us to welcome families into a community prepared to support them well.

Guiding with Respect and Care

We use positive, evidence-based approaches to help children learn to guide their own behavior. Through Montessori Peace Education, Zones of Regulation, and Positive Discipline, students practice empathy, problem solving, and conflict resolution. Our classrooms are safe, welcoming, and carefully prepared to nurture each child’s independence, curiosity, and social-emotional growth.

Because our environments are inclusive, children experience the richness of learning alongside peers with different perspectives, strengths, and ways of moving through the world. Growing up in a diverse community fosters empathy, flexibility, and a deeper respect for others, skills that benefit every child and prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

Our Commitment

At Montessori Children’s House, inclusivity is something we live with heart and intention. Our admissions process is designed to get to know each child and family closely, so that when we say yes, we feel confident that we can offer a setting where they will thrive. From the very beginning, we walk alongside parents, creating a partnership that nurtures each child’s potential and provide the tools they need to succeed.
