Montessori Education Week 2026
This Montessori Education Week, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Maria Montessori, a physician and scientist who transformed education by trusting the child. Through careful observation, she discovered that children thrive when given independence, purposeful work, and an environment designed to meet their developmental needs. She reminded the world that education is not simply preparation for life. It is life itself.
More than a century later, her insights remain deeply relevant. In our classrooms, we continue her work by protecting curiosity, nurturing concentration, and cultivating respect for self, others, and the world around us. Montessori Week is a celebration of her vision and of the children who bring it to life every day.
Join us in giving Dr. Montessori a well deserved slow clap for her courage, her brilliance, and the lasting impact of her life’s work. We are grateful. We are inspired. And we carry her legacy forward with pride.
Hear from Keely Strohl, our Advancement Director, about what Montessori Education means to her by reading this heartfelt blog post, linked here.
In Montessori education, the classroom is never accidental. Every material has a purpose. Every shelf is thoughtfully arranged. Every table, rug, and child sized tool is intentionally placed to invite independence and concentration. The environment is designed to meet the developmental needs of the child and to quietly support their growing sense of capability.
When a space is orderly, beautiful, and accessible, it communicates trust. It tells the child that this room belongs to them. Within this carefully prepared environment, children are free to move, choose meaningful work, repeat until mastery, and develop confidence through real accomplishment.
We celebrate the power of environment and the belief that when we thoughtfully prepare the space, the child rises to meet it.
At the heart of Montessori education is a deep respect for the child as a capable, curious, and developing human being. The child is not passive in their learning. They are active participants, choosing meaningful work, concentrating deeply, and building independence through hands on experience. When trusted and given the right conditions, children reveal focus, perseverance, empathy, and joy.
We follow the child because we believe in their potential. We observe carefully, guide thoughtfully, and protect their growing sense of confidence.
We celebrate the children who remind us daily that learning is natural, growth is powerful, and human potential is extraordinary.
In Montessori education, the teacher is a guide, observer, and steady presence. Rather than standing at the front of the room directing every moment, the Montessori teacher prepares the environment with intention, gives precise lessons, and then steps back so the child can grow. This work requires patience, humility, and deep trust in each child’s developmental journey.
The Montessori teacher models grace and courtesy, nurtures independence, and carefully observes when to intervene and when to allow space. Their influence is powerful, even when it is quiet.
We celebrate the guides who hold this responsibility with wisdom and heart, and who help children become confident, capable human beings.
Montessori education is a partnership. While the classroom is thoughtfully prepared and the teacher carefully guides, it is the parent who lays the foundation and continues the work at home. When families understand the philosophy and support independence, consistency, and respect, the child feels a powerful sense of alignment and security.
Parents who choose Montessori choose more than a school. They choose a way of seeing their child as capable and worthy of trust.
We celebrate the families who walk alongside us, who ask thoughtful questions, who embrace growth, and who believe in their children’s potential. Together, we create the community that makes Montessori thrive.
Happy Montessori Education Week!
