After School Clubs are a great way for children to extend their day at MCH, make deeper connections with friends and expand their interests and skill sets. From fun in the kitchen to getting outside, the After School Clubs catapult creativity, weave in exercise and teach wellness practices.

Tumble Gym
For Early Childhood students
Encouraging movement is not only good for the body, it's good for the mind. Our after school program encourages Early Childhood students to get outside and exercise. Tumble Gym is our movement program for students age 2-1/2 to six years old.

Outdoor Explorers Club
For MCH Elementary students, 1st through 7th grade
Outdoor Explorers is back for another year of outdoor exploration and discovery. Through guided activities and opportunities to explore at their own pace students will develop confidence in nature, as well as an appreciation and sense of stewardship for the outdoor spaces and ecosystems that exist in MCH’s own backyard. Activities will include using and developing the trail systems around campus, native plant and wildlife identification, capturing wildlife photos and videos using our trail camera, foraging for well known native and seasonal edibles, campfire building and cooking, basic wilderness skills and more. We’ll be outside in all conditions, so come prepared!

Are you ready to get messy in kitchen? Then come to the Café for Fun With Food Wednesday afternoons with Ms. Michelle! In this session we will make delicious dishes like chocolate-orange-zucchini muffins/cupcakes, stir fry, dessert pizza with fruit, taco cups, mandarin orange salad, homemade mac & cheese, and adorable fruit and veggie animals.
PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY FOOD ALLERGIES WHEN SIGNING UP FOR THE CLUB IN THE COMMENT AREA SO WE CAN PLAN AHEAD. This club will be using flour and dairy and eggs, but we will try to accommodate you as best we can. If needed, further arrangements can be made with Ms. Michelle.

For MCH Early Childhood and Elementary Program students
Join Ms. Angela on Tuesday afternoons for 45 minutes of fun filled yoga! In this class, students will learn to connect to their bodies through breathing and movement. Yoga helps with concentration and teaches a healthy respect for ourselves, others, and nature. It also gives children a variety of tools to help manage the stress of daily life. Through cardiovascular conditioning, songs, games, storytelling, and relaxation techniques, this yoga class encourages children to be active, to learn to relax, and to have fun in a non-competitive environment.

This year’s theme for the Yearbook is Watercolor Rainbow and we are about to dive into the creative options this gives us. This session will focus on all the behind-the-scenes structures and creativity that goes into the Yearbook. We will be designing and formatting page spreads, building our digital library structure of photos throughout the year, and working with our computer programs to practice digital graphic design skills. Students will be working with the TreeRing software and Microsoft Teams to build task lists and find ways to organize their digital tasks.
This year, Yearbook Club will be split into three sessions: Planning and Structure, Formatting and Design, and Photos and Editing. Students who attend all three sessions will be offered a free customizable yearbook.

For first grade through seventh grade students
Please join John Williamson, M.S., CCC-SLP, owner and Lead Therapist at the Social Skills Laboratory for a session of developing friendship and social skills. These friendship groups are recommended for students who struggle with developing friendships, maintaining self-regulation, sustaining attention during groups, thinking about others, engaging in successful interaction/conversation skills and using other important social competencies. During friendship groups, students will participate in using body calming strategies, practicing conversations, learning through role-playing and video modeling within socially focused, interactive lessons as well as increasing peer collaboration and social problem solving skills during shared, team-building games.

Mindfulness Club
Discover different mindfulness techniques for children to pay attention to their body, thoughts and emotions for more control and better decision making. Through the skills learned in this club student will improve focus ability, develop self-awareness, improve impulse control, increase sense of calmness, decrease stress and anxiety, learn better emotion regulation and conflict resolution skills as well as Increased empathy.
This 9-week course will be led by Henrieke Timmer. "In the Netherlands I was a teacher at a elementary school for 9 years and I truly enjoyed working with the children. I was also struggling because being a teacher is much more then only teaching the curriculum. When I discovered Mindfulness and did a MBSR-course I was immediately passionate about it and knew this is what I want to teach the children."
