HOW TO APPLY

Apply now for the 2023-2024 School Year!

On behalf of our school community, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family as you begin to learn more about Montessori Children’s House. At MCH, our staff and faculty are here to nurture your child through a Montessori continuum of education from infancy through 8th grade. Our focus at MCH is on developing your child’s strengths and passions throughout their development and educational journey.  Children who are able to identify and capitalize on their strengths and follow their passions, will experience the true joy of learning in a way that allows them to discover their most authentic self.

We believe that finding the right school for your child and community for your family is one of the most important decisions you will make.  We encourage you to take the next step by submitting an inquiry form, then taking a tour and attending one of our Open Houses.  We hope these opportunities help you learn more about Montessori Children’s House and determine whether we are the right school for your child and your family.

Rolling Admissions
Spaces may become available outside of our Open Enrollment Window and can be offered to families in our Wait Pool during the school year or in the summer. If a space becomes available, families whose children meet the demographical criteria of the available space, will be considered for acceptance, and may be contacted, and offered the vacated space.  When a space is identified as available, if the family being offered the space has not completed a Family Interview, they will need to complete one before the space can be officially offered.  If families decline spaces offered to them, they will be given the choice to remain in the Wait Pool for the next available opening or be removed from the Wait Pool.

All applicants remaining in the Wait Pool during the next Open Enrollment Window will be offered an opportunity to remain in the Wait Pool for consideration for the upcoming school year or be removed from the Wait Pool.
student visits
Student visits are scheduled for all applicants in our Upper School (First Grade – Eight Grade) after applying and paying the application fee.  Your Upper School child will be invited to join a class of their peers for a day. This is an opportunity for your child to make friends, meet our teachers and learn what it is like to be a Montessori Children’s House student.  Student visits must be completed prior to Family Interviews are scheduled.
family interviews
Family Interviews are conducted with the Head of School and are a final opportunity for families to collect information that will help inform their decision as to whether Montessori Children’s House (MCH) is the right fit for your child and your family.  MCH also uses this time to inform our mission fit decision making when filling spaces from our Wait Pool.  The Head of School will spend up to an hour with your family answering questions and sharing information on the next steps and timeline.
Family Interviews will be offered at the following times:
  • If your child is in the Wait Pool during the Open Enrollment Window, and you have indicated you would like to be considered for admissions for the upcoming school year.
  • If a space is identified for your child mid-year or over the summer and you are interested in accepting it.
Admission Decision Making Process
Admission decisions are made by the Admission Team, consisting of the Head of School, the Admission Director, the Student Support Director, and the Program Director.  Decisions are made with the goal of selecting Mission appropriate families while also balancing enrollment in our classrooms based on age/grade level, gender, schedule, diversity.  Additional weight is given to the following considerations (in no particular order):
  • Sibling priority
  • Alumni Children priority
  • Alumni Siblings priority
  • Staff children priority
  • Prior Montessori experience
  • Developmental readiness
  • Social/emotional readiness
Application Considerations
Prior to and during our Open Enrollment Window, MCH generally receives more applications than we have spaces available to offer. Thus, we are unable to offer a space to every family that applies.  We do encourage families to remain in the Wait Pool as spaces open from time to time and can be offered outside of the Open Enrollment Window, either mid-year or over the summer.  All applicants that are not offered spaces during their initial application process will remain in our Wait Pool for future consideration for either mid-year or summer openings or during the next Open Enrollment Window.  Families will periodically be given the option to remain in the Wait Pool or withdraw their application.  MCH will periodically clean up the Wait Pool if families fail to respond to our communication inquiries.
