October was very busy in Verde. We learned about our bodies, how they are built and how they work. We know now that skin protects our bodies from bacteria, can stretch and bend, helps us feel and can heal itself. Muscles help our bodies move and make our bodies stronger when we exercise. We have learned that we have internal organs and how they help our bodies to breathe, digest, filter and keep our bodies healthy. We talked about all senses and how we experience some things like music or fine art with just one sense, but other things like taking a bite of a crunchy apple with all five senses. We also discussed emotions and things that make us happy, sad, scared, excited and so on… We looked at pictures to practice recognizing emotions on other’s faces and practiced with a mirror to see how they looked on our faces. We also learned what a self-portrait is and had a chance to draw our own portraits.
In November we are going to explore North America in general and United States in particular. We are going to learn about fauna and flora found on this continent, landmarks and its people. We will touch on the history of the continent and origins and the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday.
