I can’t believe that it is June and the school year is almost over. In some ways it seems like the year has just started and in other ways it seems like we have been together forever. I have really enjoyed getting to know your children this year and seeing them grow academically, socially and physically! This past month we have been learning about insects. The kids learned that insects have six legs, antennas and three body parts: head, thorax, abdomen. We focused on three different insects: butterflies, ladybugs and bees. The kids learned about the lifecycle of the insects. Bees, ladybugs and butterflies lay eggs out of which hatch larva. The larva eat and grow, and then change into pupa. After spending time in the pupa stage, the adult emerges. The kids got to see real live caterpillars and ladybug larva grow and turn into adults. The kids really enjoyed seeing the live insects. This month we will be focusing on different types of science. We will complete different types of experiments and learn about magnets, types of matter and learn about the scientific method.
