A Recent Success

Picture
Lots of exciting things happened in the month of February.

Kindergarteners celebrated their Valentine’s day by preparing sandwiches, slicing fruits, making refreshing mint water,  exchanging cards with each other, and socializing by having snack together.

We also celebrated the 100th day of school by bringing small one hundred things to share and read a book about it.

One of the kindergarteners enjoyed writing numbers from 1-1000 with self –confidence, focus, concentration in accomplishing her work.

We learned about the continent of Europe by exploring three major countries: Germany, Spain and Italy. We discussed different languages, their culture, food, beautiful landmarks, animals, and plants around the continent. Children made flags and coloring booklets.

There was discussion during circle time about what school they are in now. Everyone agreed it was a “Montessori school”. Then I introduced the topic of Maria Montessori who born on the continent of Europe in Italy, a doctor who created all the materials in the class.

We enjoyed making ravioli with Barri (Will’s mom) and baking pizza with Ms. Katherine. We took our next step in learning about different kinds/types of pasta. We talked about dry pasta versus fresh pasta. Children enjoyed matching pastas with pictures and label and learning their names by shape, size and texture.

Kindergarteners had fun practicing “Anansi the Spider” play along with their Elementary buddies for the Montessori week celebration.
