We started off March with a big bang and learning about space. The children got to know special details about each planet and their characteristics. We did a science experiment about how craters form on Moon. A parent volunteer bought in a flour mold to replicate the surface of the moon and pebbles to represent the Asteroids. We talked about why asteroids hit the Moon’s surface and not the earth’s surface due to gravity.
To celebrate the birthday of Vincent VanGough, the children worked with our art specialist Ms. Michelle to create the starry night art piece. We also welcomed spring with great excitement and spent a lot of time working in our outdoor area. In April we will focus on our unit study of Endangered species and celebrate Earth Day by talking about how we are responsible for taking care of the planet Earth.
