The friendship fruit salad in February was a big hit for our Valentine's celebration. Thank you to all of the families who contributed Fruit! The variety in fruits made for wonderful conversations about color, texture, and taste. Some of the favorite fruits seemed to be the different types of berries and melons. The toddlers helped peel bananas and oranges, cut the fruits into manageable sizes for eating, and stir all the wonderful varieties together. Of course the eating of the salad together was one of their favorite parts. The month of February also showcased a few new favorite works such as the wooden train set, transparent building blocks for the light table, as well as some wooden lock boxes with shape sorting. The addition of some heart shape tonging and hole punching works was also greatly enjoyed.
March usually brings a change in weather and our surrounding outdoor environments. The emergence of early Spring like signs start to be seen by the toddlers making them even more excited to explore their surroundings. Celeste will also add some new works to the classroom dealing with flowers, the seasons, and animals. Families will be encouraged to sign up to bring in fresh flowers for arranging by the toddlers. The middle of March will also bring a school wide Montessori Celebration, which I hope to see all the families of Celeste attend. The month is sure to bring a lot of new sensorial experiences, and interesting works to the toddlers. Tammia Streuber Lead Teacher Celeste
