Rojo classroom had a wonderful start in September! We spent last month getting to know each other and settling down to our daily routines and procedure. We have 14 children in our classroom. The children had a very busy month exploring their classroom and receiving lessons on various areas of the curriculum. 
 
At circle time we talked about Peace education.  How to build and maintain a peaceful classroom? Children brainstormed and came up with great ideas like sharing, hugging, helping, being kind, and using words, all of which will help to build a peaceful classroom! We also started lessons on the calendar, sang songs and read various books which supported children in adjusting to the new school year! Children learned to not only show respect to each other and the classroom but also how to take good care and display respect to our classroom pet guinea pig "Chocolate"! Chocolate also moved into a new house. Thanks to Anna (Michael K's mom) and Dasha (Bruno's mom) who volunteered to take care of Chocolate.
 
We also enjoyed Harvest Fest at the end of last month and children can't stop talking about it!  Rojo children had a wonderful experience making grilled cheese sandwich with Cynthia (Michael Reese's mom) last week! Fortunately we had Dasha in our class the same day and she has captured some beautiful moments of children cooking. She will be sharing those pictures with our community soon! Can't wait to see them!  
 
This month, in October we are learning "All about me"! We started talking about our emotions. What makes us happy? What makes us sad or mad? And how to deal with our emotions appropriately. We will be also talking about our 5 senses and body parts as we progress through this month. Children will also make their self and family portraits and will share them with their class.
