A RECENT SUCCESS
Children in Azul were excited about the upcoming holiday season and we learned about celebrations around the world.
To keep up the spirit we had a Christmas tree in the class and Ms. Katherine was thrilled to helped to decorate the tree with beautiful ornaments.
Children enjoyed getting a lesson on gift wrapping by wrapping a box with reusable poinsettia fabric; it was a great Practical Life skill learning to take the tape from the dispenser.
Children also made individual holiday cards with used gift wrapping papers by cutting with patterned scissors and gluing them on the blank cards.

In December, we experienced really cold weather, and fittingly, we studied the continent Antarctica. Children learned about different animals, places and regions. We talked about how the South Pole Antarctica experiences longer days in the Summer and longer nights in the Winter.

Children learned about how animals keep themselves warm and what foods they survive on. We learned about the food cycle: bigger animals eating smaller ones (penguins eat krill). We also discussed about layering ourselves to keep warm in cold days. Children explored different states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) by doing experiments. They learned about different types of snow with three parts cards and matching pictures.

Fortuitously, the children got to see, feel and play right before the holidays.

In January, we will discuss about human and animal body parts and learn in detail about different kinds of Penguins, their characteristics and life cycle.
