Welcome back and Happy New Year!!! Azul friends are happy to be reunited. December was short but there was so much that we learned. Reading was a big part of our day-to-day curriculum. Children used sandpaper letters for beginning sound recognition and movable alphabet for segmentation of words. Reading the just right books kept them motivated too. In math we used many Montessori materials such as the number rods for counting and the golden bead sequence to learn the decimal system. We also welcomed Ethan to our classroom.
To brighten up the holiday spirit we sang songs like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells which segued into learning about different cultures and holidays around the world. For the month of January we will explore the different animals that live here and their habitat. Through this unit we learn about herbivore and carnivore animals and the part these animals play in an ecosystem.
