A RECENT SUCCESS

Children in Azul started the school year with excitement getting to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.

This year we have a large group of Kindergarteners. They were really eager to start the year with lesson plans, P.E , nature club and bonding with Elementary buddies.

The class was normalized in the first week of school and children were ready to focus, concentrate and get back into their routines.

Can you count my eyes?
The school year is in full swing and the children are all well settled in.  We have a great mix of returning and new children; they are all getting to know each other, making new friends and practicing grace and courtesy.  We have been talking about peace education and learning to problem solve without teacher intervention.

In September we learned about different invertebrates and the children enjoyed working with small objects identifying their different body parts and learning their names.

This month the children are learning in detail about spiders - just in time for Halloween! We have been identifying them by type, color, size, pattern and whether they’re poisonous or nonpoisonous.  What their habitat is, how they spin their web, and there was extra excitement to learn why spiders don’t get caught in their own silky webs!

We are also learning about the continent of Australia.  It’s people, animals, plants, food, landmarks and art.  If you are from, or have travelled to Australia you are welcome to come visit the classroom and share your experiences with us.
