Hi Folks,
We are really excited to be able to meet with everyone tomorrow! It was another busy week with a lot of hard working students. We had a lesson on the Million Cube, an impressionistic lesson that reinforces quantity and place value. Students also continued to study the Adverb, Homographs and Africa. Third grade students began research on an African country of their choice. They were asked to examine the Needs of People with different areas of that country-past and present day. There was a lot of excitement as national anthems were sought on YouTube and graphic organizers filled up with information from their library books. Today, your students should have taken home their Friday Folders without homework in them. We will pass out new homework packets during conferences tomorrow. Since next week is a short week, the new homework packet is a two-week packet that includes extra work for students to complete over mid-winter break. This Wednesday, Feb. 12, is our annual Friendship Cafe for Valentine's Day. Your child is welcome to bring Valentine cards to share with classmates from Morado and Turquesa. Please send 26 cards total. Your child is welcome to write their friends names on their cards, or they can bring unaddressed cards if that makes it easier for them to distribute. Please do not send any candy or treats of any kind. Children will distribute cards in the morning and then we'll share lunch and Friendship Cafe with Morado. We are looking forward to meeting with you all tomorrow during conferences. Please bring your child's Progress Report and all of your questions so we can look more closely at your child's learning. You can drop your child off in childcare and then meet me over in the new building. We will be meeting in our third classroom, the first door on the right as you come up the stairs. See you tomorrow, Ms. Jessie
