Hello everyone!
March's arrival surprises teachers every single year! The time goes so fast and we realize the school year is nearing its end, with June just around the next corner. Although Washington really doesn't have less sunshine in the winter than Wisconsin, it is a lot warmer and the warm sunshine has been pleasantly welcomed. 1st and 2nd grades have been learning, or reviewing, time and all of E1 will start Botany (the study of plants) this week. We've started mechanics of writing which refers to the conventions that help make text flow, such as punctuation and capitalization. Students who are exposed to the mechanics of punctuation at an early age will become sharper readers and stronger writers. We have also been going over abbreviations, which was a great tie in with last week’s spelling word lists. Last Thursday, E1 took their trip to the library and we all enjoy that time together. The students teamed up and did a scavenger hunt to find different types of book at the library. Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to make this trip possible by driving. Also, we originally scheduled our annual Math Night for next week, March 12. We have moved Math Night to Friday, April 17 from 4:00-5:30. Lastly, we would like to invite everyone to the Montessori Celebration at Rosa Park Elementary from 10 to 12 am. The elementary students have been practicing several songs they are going to sing together and it is going to be a great time. We will see you then! Thank you for all you do as parents! You are appreciated. Have a great weekend! Ms. Carol and Mr. Ben
