Well, we made it through a busy week of books, sun, and Passion Projects! Thank you to all of you that donated books to Morado and Turquesa. We introduced them first thing Monday morning and the students-and teachers-are really enjoying them! We hope you are enjoying the reading time at home as well.
Passion Projects was on everybody's mind this week, and they have the research to prove it. We are all on track to begin the work on posters and reports next week. Please notice that some students have the Passion Project section of their homework packet filled out, and should work on the tasks listed over the weekend (as well as anyone else feeling inspired). Research online is encouraged, as well as parent/sibling/extended family/friend participation. Part of Passion Projects is getting people to learn something new about the topic, so have fun with it! Additionally, there is no new literature assignment this week for third graders. This month, we are excited to have some fun lessons brought to us by parent volunteers. Jason (Aubrey grade 1) will be joining us on Tuesday, May 6 to make clouds...in jars! Savita (Arjun grade 2) is excited to come in and engage the students in art appreciation lessons on Tuesday, May 13. And we will be cooking again with Karolina (Iza grade 3) next Friday, May 9. We are asking for students to bring in their favorite salad ingredient between Wednesday and Friday...feel free to get creative! We will make several different types of salad-yum! We are gardening again with Ms. Katherine! Students go in small groups to complete tasks like shoveling dirt, potting up plants and putting new seeds in the ground. Please, please be sure your child has boots and spare clothes at school! Gardening-and life in general for a Lower Elementary student-can get messy at times, and we want to be sure your child is prepared and comfortable at all times. Thanks so much! Please have a wonderful weekend, and feel free to email-students too!-if you have questions about Passion Projects or anything else!
