January was a wonderful month in Rosa! We welcomed several new friends into our classroom. The older toddlers enjoyed showing their new friends around both the classroom and the playground. The toddlers were busy working with some new winter themed materials for counting, sorting, and language. A couple favorite works in January we’re counting snowflake “gems”, and sorting pearls into small, medium and large sizes. The end of January we celebrated the opening of the sandbox on the toddler playground. The toddlers were so excited to climb in and start digging! We have filled the sandbox with pots and pans, ladles, muffin tins, and cake molds. They have been busy cooking everything from “mud pies” to muffins. In a February the toddlers will celebrate Valentine’s Day the toddler way. We will be making a special fruit salad to share. The toddlers will be busy chopping, peeling, stirring and serving each other a delicious fruit salad. A few new works will also be brought into the classroom that revolve around the Valentine’s Day theme such as; sifting sand with a slotted spoon to find hearts, pink glitter play-doh with heart shaped cookie cutters, heart shaped hor’dourve sticks to place in containers and glitter and glue to decorate foam hearts.
