Happy New Year! The month of December in Amarillo was short but busy. We finished our study of the solar system and completed our art projects of the planets, learned about the holidays of Hanukkah and Christmas, and enjoyed extra activities like a morning of preparing fruit kabobs, and story time with different parents.
The cold weather meant shorter recesses, but thank you, parents, for ensuring that your child was well-equipped to face the cold playground each day. Please remember that hats and gloves or mittens can easily go astray, so please put your child’s name on any item of clothing they bring to school. And if your child has begun to refer to their knitted hat as a “tuque”, that was me bringing a little bit of Canadian jargon into the classroom! In the month of January we are looking at our planet, Earth, including an examination of the layers of the earth, volcanoes, and geographical landforms. We will also be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King and having peace-related lessons as we discuss why his teachings are important to remember.
