February was marked by snow days at the beginning, a delayed start due to snow at the end, and mid-winter break in the middle, yet Amarillo students were busy with their learning and work on all the days in between. We looked at the polar regions of the planet and discussed ways that animals keep warm in their cold climate. One morning, we huddled like penguins, and another, we put our hands into a bag of shortening in ice to understand how blubber works. The children enjoyed the giving and receiving of valentines on Valentine’s Day, and weekly art lessons and gardening sessions have been very popular.
We also had our conference days in February, and it was a pleasure to meet with you all to discuss your child’s progress. It is a privilege to work with each of them and I so appreciated being able to connect with you. We will not have conferences again this year, but I am always available through email should you have any questions or concerns. In March we will take a look at the world when dinosaurs lived on it. We will also enjoy seasonal celebrations, and a Montessori celebration, for which your child is preparing a song to perform, will be held on the morning of March 18th. It should be a great time! We are busy looking for the first signs of spring as the month begins and we will continue to enjoy them as spring officially begins on March 21st.
